Shell PowerHouse

Power where it fits. Charging where it’s needed.

PowerHouse is a DC charging solution for heavy-duty fleets that separates the power electronics from the charge point. The power unit sits wherever there is room in your depot; vehicles charge at a dispenser right at the bay. One unit delivers up to 500 kW. Two units combined deliver up to 1 MW – megawatt charging at the same charge point.

One solution. Everything your fleet needs to start charging.

PowerHouse brings together four essential components so you can deploy faster, operate with confidence and scale with ease. Designed to simplify charging infrastructure management.

Not adapted for trucks. Engineered for them.

At the heart of PowerHouse is liquid-cooled, advanced power module charging technology designed in Germany for the demands of professional heavy-duty fleet operation. Unlike conventional air-cooled designs, PowerHouse is built to charge heavy-duty trucks back-to-back at full power across a wide ambient temperature range, delivering reliable performance across every duty cycle, day and night. Since the power unit sits apart from the charge point, you decide where it stands.

Shell PowerPack 500

Add PowerOS, PowerCare and Shell Card and the financial case strengthens further. Intelligent CPMS scheduling optimises energy use across every charge point. Phased rollout spreads CAPEX as your fleet grows. One contract covering everything means less admin, fewer suppliers and no hidden costs.

Shell's integrated charging network for heavy-duty fleets

Connect to Shell’s integrated European heavy-duty charging network and unlock the full commercial potential of your infrastructure.

Up to 10% lower TCO versus diesel²

Enabled through Shell’s integrated charging network, shared infrastructure model and revenue generation via Shell Card.

Site the power unit. Scale up to 1 MW.

PowerHouse is built around a modular architecture that grows with your operation. The power unit supplies a dispenser at the bay, so only the connection runs between them – no depot redesign, no infrastructure replacement.

For higher power, two PowerHouse units combine to deliver up to 1 MW to the same charge point – megawatt charging without adding a charging position. PowerOS manages scheduling and dynamic power sharing across all charge points automatically, keeping every vehicle ready for its next duty cycle.

² Potential TCO outcomes are based on Shell’s model for a heavy-duty truck operating 116,000 km/year over 5 years, assuming a semi-public, energy-optimised eDepot with 75% private and 25% on-the-go charging. Estimated savings come from third-party eDepot use, Smart Charging energy cost reductions, and preferential network pricing, based on market references (excluding grid upgrades). Actual results will vary by market, vehicle type, and customer-specific factors such as energy prices, infrastructure costs, utilisation, and location.

Indicative results based on model assumptions

This calculator provides indicative savings estimates for fleets investing in depot charging infrastructure. The model reflects the impact of depot optimisation, smart charging and energy management across Shell’s integrated network.

This scenario assumes a heavy-duty truck operating 116,000 km per year over 5 years, with 75% depot charging and 25% on-the-go charging supported by a semi-public, energy-optimised eDepot. Actual results will vary depending on market conditions and customer-specific factors.

To explore the broader framework behind these results, learn more about Shell’s Integrated Charging Network.
