Kiel 3.0 represents the third expansion stage, after which a total of 99 charging points will be installed in Kiel. Currently, there are already 32 fast charging points with 450 kW charging capacity at eleven locations in the city, making it possible to recharge 75 kWh of energy within 10 minutes. This allows for at least 40 km of travel. The 75 kWh of energy is more than many smaller electric cars can hold in total.
The construction work at the Diedrichstraße depot is also progressing. There, 43 charging points with 150 kW are being built. The traverses and stations are already in place, and the cabling has begun.
The concept is working! Since September 14, 2020, the Kiel Transport Company has been operating with fully electric buses. With the current 70 vehicles, the 10 million kilometer mark was reached in early April 2024, saving 11,000 tons of CO2.
