The bus depot at Munich Airport where the buses are charged

Together with AeroGround, we at SBRS GmbH commissioned a new e-bus depot with 50 charging stations this year—a major step toward emission-free ground transportation at Munich Airport.

Sustainable Mobility Solutions

With strong partners, we are driving sustainable mobility at Munich Airport forward. Already today, around half of the ground fleet is electric. The new charging hub will further accelerate the expansion of the e-fleet.

The project includes 50 charging stations, each with a capacity of 120 kW, and infrastructure for 37 zero-emission buses. In the long term, an expansion to a total of 72 vehicles is planned.

This project makes a significant contribution to reducing emissions and promoting climate-friendly technologies in the aviation environment.

the electric buses are directly charging next to the airport traffic.

A Logistical Masterpiece

What’s particularly remarkable: The installation and operation of the charging infrastructure took place during ongoing airport operations. This demonstrates how innovation and day-to-day operations can work seamlessly together—a real challenge that we successfully mastered.

Voices from the Project

Project Manager Marvin Thoelke summarizes the implementation as follows:

“Successfully delivering a demanding project! The charging infrastructure at Munich Airport places special demands on technology and organization, and that’s what makes it exciting. Proud of the team that mastered this challenge and made e-mobility a reality in a complex environment.”

Our Contribution to the Future

At SBRS GmbH, we are proud to be part of this important project and to actively contribute to advancing emission-free ground transportation at Munich Airport.

The Eva Flex Charger was used for this project to be the power of the charging system. The buses itself are getting charged via cable, as in the picture before.

Our Projectmanager Marvin Thölke and the Project Manager at AeroGround Transport Services Maximilian Warnholtz are checking the chargers before the installation is taking place.
