Ceremonial opening of the Contargo terminal with Federal Minister of Transport Volker Wissing and NRW Environment and Transport Minister Oliver Krischer

In addition to 13 other Contargo locations, SBRS has installed a comprehensive energy system with battery storage systems and eight chargers at the container terminal in Neuss. On February 14th 2025, the Contargo terminal in Neuss was officially opened – with the participation of Federal Minister of Transport Volker Wissing, NRW Environment and Transport Minister Oliver Krischer and the Mayor of Neuss, Reiner Breuer.

Contargo Managing Director Holger Albersmann and the Executive Board of the Rethmann Group Klemens Rethmann also took part in the event. The speeches of all participants left a lasting impression. There was agreement that the future of logistics, as SBRS is also convinced, will be significantly shaped by electromobility.

Environment and Transport Minister Krischer is missing from the group pictures, but he did not miss the opportunity to take a seat in the cab of an electric truck (left in the passenger seat). On the short spin on the site, it was impressively conveyed how quiet but powerful electromobility is.

In the subsequent expert talk, SBRS Managing Director Andreas Stahl impressed with in-depth expertise on the future of electromobility. Kristin Kahl from Contargo also emphasised her conviction in the current solution.

Another central topic was the ability to deliver electric trucks. Daimler Truck Manager Puchert (bottom right of the picture below) was asked in particular about how quickly new vehicles can be made available.

Conclusion: An impressive opening event that illustrated the enormous potential of electromobility in heavy-duty transport. The further implementation of innovative solutions as in Neuss is undisputed.
